site aims to provide you as a WGL candidate or
holder with information and resources to help you complete your
Walking Group
Leader
Award
and beyond.
It is
a private site and not part of the United Kingdom Mountain Leader
Training Board (MLTUK) or any of the home nation boards.
However,
it is administered by Vernon Smith a Mountain Instructor and
Mountain Leader Training England (MLTE) Course Provider for
Walking Group
Leader
Award
(WGL) Mountain Leader Award (ML) and Single Pitch Award (SPA).
With a career spanning over 25 years Vernon has been involved
with providing both training and assessment courses for far
too long!
The
site is not intended to be a manual encompassing everything you
need to know to pass your walking group leader award (WGL). There
already exists a fantastic resource published by the MTT and
written
by Steve
Long which
is the 'handbook' for
the walking group leader award and well worth a read. Rather,
this web site is a resource to get you thinking as a walking
group leader and to illuminate some of what you can expect at
assessment. It is a resource to accompany the practical training
you should receive on your WGL training course.
Hopefully
you will find the information informative and relevant to the
walking group leader award scheme (WGL). We welcome all contributions
